How do you feel about the school holidays, parents?

If it’s a complicated mixture of gladness (more time with the kids!) and nerves (how to keep ’em gainfully occupied for a whole week?!) – you’re not alone. Many of us are parents too, and we feel you. While unstructured time is important and great for kids, here are some of our own plans and suggestions for activities to keep kids curious in a time of COVID-19.

1. Head over to Playeum

Playeum is a pretty special ‘playground’ nestled in Gillman Barracks. Founded by two mothers, it’s designed as a safe space for kids to express themselves and play differently. Open Tuesdays through to Sundays.

2. Spend an afternoon at The Art Ground

The Art Ground is an interactive visual art space within Goodman Arts Centre where kids can explore and practise their motor skills while developing an awareness and appreciation of aesthetics. Open Wednesdays through to Sundays, with free admission.
Psst, fun fact: Rocket Launcher Fong Yee designed The Art Ground’s current installation – The Curious Sky: Galaxy Edition – which creatively fuses art and tech for a sensory experience both big and little kids will love.
3. Go outdoors with the Nature Explorers School

Go unplugged in your own backyard – the Nature Explorers School runs child-led experiences that draws on nature to inspire and develop kids’ self-esteem, confidence and self-awareness. This holiday, they’re running 2-day camps for kids ages 3-12.

4. Explore Singapore through the Arts in Your Neighbourhood
arts for all

40 arts experiences including installations, trails and interactive performances across 15 locations all over Singapore from March 14-29, with a particular focus on the neighbourhood of Bukit Panjang.

5. We heard about some pretty awesome coding camps

Just kidding. But we do have some spots open for our holiday creative coding camps next week, as well as for our home-based project-based learning option, Explorer Pass, if you’re weary of heading out during the holidays. Our schedule’s waiting right here.

. . .

What are some of your favourite things to do with your kids during the holidays? Shoot us an email – we’d love to know! Happy holidays – have fun and stay curious.
