Course Summary

Learning outcomes:

This course is an intermediate coding bootcamp, focused on the creative application of web technologies (HTML, CSS, Github and repl.it) to develop a personal landing page. Kids will learn to apply web design and development tools to their own portfolio and wiki pages, to kick start a journey to establish their online presence.

Kids will be tapping on their innate creativity and get inspired while learning:

  1. Basic HTML and CSS to create simple web pages
  2. Learn about how the Internet works
  3. Create a project and deploy on Github
  4. Create webpages through Replit

This 4-week bootcamp wraps up with kids creating their own final project with the curriculum concepts picked up.

All About the Course

Kids dive into a 4-week adventure in the world of HTML, CSS and more – and learn to code up interactive web-based projects, starting with their own portfolio site and Wiki page.

It’s an intermediate coding bootcamp, focused on the creative application of web technologies to global issues. Kids will learn to apply Design Thinking principles to come up with creative solutions that tackle problems that are close to their hearts. They’ll also learn to explore, analyse and communicate these big ideas through web-based technology.

Students will be exposed to eye-opening inventions and scientific breakthroughs that have shaped modern society, and get inspired by the big ideas that shape how we live, work and play today. Combining this knowledge with their new skills, kids will get creative building their own personal Wiki to showcase what they’ve learned about brilliant breakthroughs, insane inventions, and the world wide web.

By the end, kids walk away with a strong foundational knowledge of HTML and CSS programming, as well as their own portfolio site and wiki page that is unique to them and their solutions.

Designed for kids ages 11 to 14.

What if?
